A Plumstead Mystery - 28 January 1985

There is more to this picture from Plumstead than at first meets the eye. I though it was simply a shot of Class 415/1 (4-EPB) 5126 but, on closer examination, there are five coaches in the picture. I have received various pieces of information and suggestions but nothing definitive. It appears to me that the second carriage from the camera is the odd one out.

A possible explanation can be deduced from bloodandcustard.com The unit had been damaged in an accident at Dartford earlier in January 1985 and the damaged vehicle replaced only four days earlier than this photograph. This might have been a temporary '5-EPB'?
