Manchester May Memories (5M) - 7 May 1986

My records reveal that on 7 May 1986 I made a day trip to Manchester (from London) and, on a whirlwind tour, took in Manchester Piccadilly, Rose Hill Marple, Stockport and Manchester Victoria.

The days of the first generation dmus were gradually coming to a close when I captured this Metropolitan-Cammell unit, apparently bound for Liverpool, at Manchester Victoria. The station in 1986 was a gloomy, smoky place but full of character and a place to be for interesting through traffic. I felt this shot deserved an additional b&w treatment.
