Ventimiglia/Vintimille is where the French/Italian border blurs especially in these days of freedom of movement within (most of) the EU. French trains are as common as Italian examples with regular services leaving for the neighbouring country. The Italian services tend to be locomotive powered (push/pull with driving trailers) and the French TER services operated by multiple units. A number of locomotives and shunters can be seen stabled such as these Class D145 (left) and D245 examples. The 145 is D145.2067 (from the original image) but, unfortunately, I did not properly record the numbers of these locomotives and I have deduced that the number on the works plate can not readily be derived from the long number featured below which is an example of the ridiculous and completely unnecessary European 'standard' system.
