Never Again! again :(

War is a recurrent human action. There are no lessons learned from the past. "Never Again" is a utopia.

Because of the lack of resolve by humans, sadly many times the most violent, destructive and evil of species. :( Still, I hope one day we can attain this utopia even though it's unlikely to be during our lifetimes and likely many thousands of years off. Thank you Armando.

I fully agree with Armando... and join you in your hope, even if I think peace on Earth will never happen: our species is too destructive and predator.

Yesterday was a horrible day in Israel. It was a brutal day for humanity and those who care for humanitarian principles. Driven by an unyielding claim anchored in theological interpretation that Israel exists on land that is an “Islamic Waqf” and profound rejection of “so-called peaceful solutions,” armed terrorists from Hamas launched an unprovoked attack on Israel’s people. Civilians, first responders, police officers, and soldiers were attacked indiscriminately. Families, mothers, and children were taken hostage, many severely beaten. Women and young girls were raped, their bodies desecrated.

Following Israel's victory in the 1967 War, Foreign Minister Abba Eban explained to the UN Security Council, "On the fateful morning of 5 June, when Egyptian forces moved by air and land against Israel’s western coast and southern territory, our country’s choice was plain. The choice was to live or perish, to defend the national existence or to forfeit it for all time."

Today, Israel is again confronted with the choice to live or perish. Israel, as it has done throughout its history, will again choose to live. Life is what animates Israel and its people. Death is the false god that fuels the barbaric terrorists of Hamas who carried out yesterday's massacre. Life will prevail over death.

You don't have to tell me Malik. I know this isn't an "Islamic" thing no matter what the bigoted media says or implies. 9/11 here in NY wasn't either. These are extremists that exploit God for their self-interests. Likewise, extremism runs in peoples of all faiths. :(

I hate it when I hear it the attacks were carried out by "Islamic extremists." To put it in the same perspective, then one can say the Holocaust was carried out by "Christian extremists." No, instead these murderous acts during 1939-45 and yesterday were carried out by genocidal extremists plain and simple, having nothing to do with God since the perpetrators are apostates whose ways are completely antithetical to God's ways.

Muslims are peace loving people as was the great prophet Mohammad. Even though I'm a Christian, I consider Mohammad a great prophet and admire him. It's too bad many want to keep us brothers and sisters of the same one God and descendants of Abraham divided and separated. :(

Gedanklich bin ich bei Isabel! An einen Weltfrieden mit Menschen glaube ich nicht! Lernen aus der Vergangenheit müßte schon seit vielen, vielen Jahren abgeschlossen sein!
Ich bin zutiefst erschüttert über die Brutalität und Grausamkeit der Hamas und verstehe jede Handlung seitens Israel die jetzt kommt. Andererseits, wen wird der Lieferstop von Lebensmitteln, Strom und Treibstoff nach Gaza treffen? Ich kann nur hoffen, dass dieser Konflikt rasch beendet wird und nicht noch weiter eskaliert.

Sadly all the innocents of Gaza -- people like you and me who simply want to live a decent life to the fullest will be effected. Hamas is to blame for this. I share your hope the military operation can be swift but considering the logistics, I think it's going to be prolonged. Urban warfare is the toughest and most brutal. :( Also look how long the USA was at war in Afghanistan (and for nothing it turns out after ours and NATO's shameful retreat and the illegal wars we conducted against Iraq and Libya in the aftermath of 9/11. This is Israel's "9/11" so barring a miracle we can only hope for, the war Israel was forced into is just beginning. :(

Afterwards, I'm not sure an independent Palestinian option for Gaza is viable or the best solution anymore. I could be wrong though if perhaps the quartet is revived and a solution is imposed. Otherwise, perhaps incorporating it as a province or territory of another Middle-Eastern state or group of states may be a better solution to protect against a repeat genocidal act of terrorism and murder.

Yes, it's so unconscionable but sadly there are much too many people waiting for the orders from the right people who will not hesitate to carry out genocidal campaigns. Worse yet, they won't even ask for a reason when instructed to do so. :(

I observed this with the Lantern flies here. People were told to kill them because they were bad and so many carried out the instructions without asking for evidence and before much facts were known about them. They didn't wait for nature to take its course -- development of predators. Now it's even been discovered the "honey" they produce has beneficial health effects!

Regarding these same people: If they could do kill on a small scale without hesitation, they would do the same thing in a heartbeat on a much larger scale if some leader says this group of people is bad. :(

It's just too obvious; evil and genocide is in our badly flawed nature. :(

May humankind one day purge itself of such evils since life it much too short and precious.

As long as there are humans there will be wars. Aside from religious conflict, purges, pogroms and violence perpetrated by atheists have likewise led to millions of deaths (e.g. Stalin killed 20+ million, Mao killed 35+ million and the Khmer Rouge killed 2+ million, to name just three examples) with their collective toll similar to the collective toll of those from so-called believers who exploit God. :(

Qué trágica historia la de estos pueblos. Qué salvaje enconamiento. Rosalyn, I shared your view when I was in Times Square for 2000 thinking humanity was getting another chance and how nice it would be to have a millennium free of violence and blood shed. Sadly it didn't take long for humankind to continue the violence. :(

At the same time, it's sickening to see how the slaughter of the innocents in Israel seems to have re-awakened the ghosts of the Third Reich. I was especially disgusted to see a headline that Jewish people here in New York suddenly fear for their safety. :(
