... a photo of history (late 1800's arms race -- the Wiki link is a great inclusion; I had no idea ... another instance of "Encyclopedia Ipernity")

(hmm, one of the pics in the Wikipedia article seemed to indicate that muzzle loading on the Italian battleships was initiated outside the turret -- that can't be very safe or effective in combat; the loaders easily become casualties)

Yes, I would not have liked to have any part to play in operating these monster guns.

Whilst I have visited Malta on several occasions I cannot recall seeing their guns, where as I only visited Gibraltar for half a day and spotted this one.
