My Dear Füsun

Thank you so much! I am so pleased that you have enjoyed this picture from 'the old days'.
On a still day the smoke does tend to sit in the air around this station, especially if the train is a while waiting there. This view was from the 'Black Lion' pub. Maybe on your next visit we can go there!

Atmospheric, mysterious, marvelous and amazing picture here, Peter. I agree with everyone's gobsmacked opinions about this image, it's a MASTERPIECE. Fitting for a museum or gallery, it's the kind of picture I would frame and put on the wall for my grandfather to enjoy, as he loved trains very much. He would have loved this gorgeous scene. :) Thank you!

Hi Janet

Thank you so much for your nice visit, and very kind words!
I am very happy to read them!!
I showed this picture to some workmates today, and they all thought it was an old picture from the 1960's. I am so pleased that you have enjoyed it.

Oooh, I do like this one Peter. I just love the atmosphere with this lighting. I cannot be too sure whether it is entirely due to the contre-jour steam or if you may have tinted it a little too, but it does not matter. A fantastic and moving capture for me. The station and people here give an overall impression of the real days of steam. I can almost smell and hear it here in my room. My ⭐ awarded as a token of my respect for you. Congrats my friend.

Thank you so much Herb.

Praise from an expert like yourself means so much more to me, and is really appreciated.
This station is at the bottom of a steep valley, and the trains usually cross here, so on a busy day there is usually one of the trains hanging around for a while. Then, as on this day, if there is no wind, the whole valley gets full of (sometimes dirty) smoke. As you also spotted the shot is pretty well into the sun, coupled with being some distance away (zoom lens) means there is a lot of smoke between camera and locomotive. Add the whole lot together...
I'm sure you would love to come here and use your skills on this scene too!!

Hi Peter

This amazing picture makes me feel fully immersed in the fascinating atmosphere of this station, pervaded by the smoke of the locomotive, so brilliantly caught and composed in backlight!

Thank you so much Bea!

As I said to Herb, this location does trap the smoke of a still day, then add a bit of sun, and it could be from any bygone age!
I am so happy that you like it!!!
