No! Too bitter - but old farm ladies used to make jam with them. Thank you, Gabi!

I will also decline the invitation to a taste test..........but I will repeat that these berries look amazing! I bet the birds love them.

Apparently they make a good liquor too...........here's a recipe I found (but haven't tried):

Yeah right Diane...

Word of Caution: When rowan berries are picked in the wild, they contain high levels of parasorbic acid, which can actually cause kidney damage, indigestion, and a range of other illnesses. However, once frozen or heated, this acid changes to the beneficial sorbic acid, which our body finds very useful. Therefore, don’t go out picking wild rowan berries, make sure you properly prepare them first to get the most benefits!https://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/fruit/rohttps://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/fruit/rowan-berries.htmlwan-berries.html

No worries here, I took one little bite and spit it out. Tastes horrible. Edible only when cooked, as you note, though I don't know why anyone would bother these days. I think rowan berry jam was a only homestead woman's specialty - along with buffalo berry and chokecherry jams! Birds love them and seem to survive them - hence the dark red splats all over my car every fall!
