Get some magnetic chess pieces and we could have a game!

But...but...I don't know how to play chess! So, you win! Thank you, Andy.

Draughts then (you say chequers, or is it checkers?).

We say checkers, and I'm fairly wicked at that, because it's easy. Basically, I hate games because I don't understand them, except for Monopoly, Scrabble, Checkers and I suppose another one I can't think of. (I always wondered what was meant by "draughts" in old books and such.)

I agree, I didn't much like games either. All that sitting down in one place for hours on end. But far worse for me were games of cards. I never did like them and I never saw the point. My grandmother tried to teach us bridge but I recoiled with horror and just couldn't get it (just didn't WANT to get it!) My siblings though took to it like a duck to water! There have been situations, especially in France as a teenager, when everyone settled down to a long evening of bridge and I was relieved to be left alone with a book. Much happier!

Aaaacchhh! CARDS! The worst! I can't tell you how many times people have tried to coerce me, going on and on for 10 minutes. "We'll teach you!" I assure them my refusal has nothing to do with them, will have no repercussions for them, and that I really do like them, I just hate cards. They are surprisingly hurt about it. Jeez!

Shouldn't the little flag stand upright when you have mail.........or have I got it the wrong way round. It's an attractive mailbox either way..!!

The flag goes up when you put mail in and you want the mailman to take it. He puts it down, then. So...you do, indeed, have mail, Keith! Probably just junk mail and bills, like mine.

Thanks for the info Diane..............I get it now..!! I didn't realise that your mailmen collected from houses as well. We have to post our own..!!

For the most part, yes, but not in apartment buildings or mobile home parks. Some central mail boxes are showing up more in ordinary neighborhoods of houses, too. Cost-cutting, after all, and no reason people can't walk a few more yards in their bathrobes!

Urban chic. Twiggy used to wear a mini-skirt like this.

I believe she did, and dashed the hopes of millions of girls who wanted to do the same!
