The sheep catches the eye first but the glimpse of the landscape beyond is just as interesting!

Thank you, Gudrun! It's a very "cowboys and cattle" kind of landscape.

It is very odd, I think. Thank you, NG!

Yep. I forgot where you live...apparently some other state with a Beatty! As you see, this Beatty would no doubt give yours a run for its money. Lol!

Beatty, NV is a tiny desert town about 100 miles north of Vegas on US 95. It's a gas stop and gateway for Death Valley, too! It's pronounced BATE-ee, btw--is that how the Oregon town is pronounced? I must've been thru Beatty, OR because I went along that part of OR 140 once, but I sure don't remember it--

Yes, same pronunciation. Ha - I guess if you miss the sign, you're just out of luck! Sounds like the two Beattys have a lot in common, except I don't think the store even has a gas pump in this one. Eastern OR, as you would know, is much more similar to Nevada than the rest of Oregon - both in landscape and culture. Well, the Great Basin, so of course... It has taken me a very long time to get used to a sagebrush and scrub juniper landscape again.

Wow, I just looked on Google Earth and your Beatty is a massive metropolis in comparison!!!
