I may have then misinterpreted the challenge, if Bible citations are not counted as epitaphs. And it is the pretty much the same here. Anything else but the name, and date of birth and death are rare.

Simple and powerful will touch the heart and soul. Nicely done Chrissy.

There seems to be a shift away from the little sayings and poems as epitaphs these days. It now is usually just the date of birth and passing. In the cemetery just a few blocks from our apartment
we found the older the grave marker the better chance of finding a more informative epitaph. I like the older epitaphs as it gives one a connection, however small, to the deceased.

Obwohl ich gern über Friedhöfe streife und Grabinschriften studiere, hätte ich auch nicht gewußt, daß das so heißt. Mein "Lieblings-Epitaph" hab ich an einer Gruft auf dem Jüdischen Friedhof hier in Berlin-Weißensee gefunden:
"Ich baute Dir ein Haus. Du machtest mir ein Heim daraus."

Das ist wirklich schön!

Tief ins Herz gehend......und bewusst machend, wie nahe doch alles sein könnte...
