Ribble viaduct

Ribble viaduct
The River Ribble has quite a few of these viaducts (not to be confused with the great railway Ribble Head Viaduct. (PIP) These carry drinking water from our Lake District to the Manchester area. This bridge is not far from the famous Stonyhurst college.
The PiP shows another of these viaduct yet further downstream near Clithero in need of a boy with a large thumb!

Always good to get your slant on these things Keith. I too liked the light and reflections here. Some short time later we had a right storm. I did wonder if Jaap might have know somebody but as is silent about that :) Glad you enjoyed Ribble-Head again.

A great stretch of water that we have walked alongside a few times but never on turf carpet before. I think they must have used some old plastic turf from the college nearby.

Three splendid shots Herb! Love the viaducts in both pictures and I hope that boy with a big thumb soon comes along :-)

All the best, Rosa.
