All aboard for lunch on the steam train

All aboard for lunch on the steam train
The ‘Ribble Valley Live Steamers’ are up and running on this Sunday afternoon round trip at their headquarters at Eddisford bridge, Clitheroe. Now don’t laugh, for these engines are very serious bits of sophisticated engineering with the ability to pull around this track up to two four people carriages. That is quite amazing. Each one having been lovingly crafted as near to its full size equivalent as possible. A mixture of engines here on this day with at least four more out of sight. The two front ones here having just discharged their fun loving travelling charges. A good time to grab a bite to eat and stoke up the fires!

See Pip.

Yes they are, especially considering the weight they pull on this few small wheels.

I knew a person who also made these -almost every piece by hand on his engineering lathe etc. As you say, it took a long time o complete but that was his hobby like photography is ours. Glad you liked it.

Enjoy the week. Herb

Definitely,.. a dream day out for kids and grown ups alike,..Herb,.. The loco close up indicates well the size of the driving wheels and it's amazing how they manage to pull the load.. I would guess the internal workings are designed to the same spec. as a real loco,. a truly brilliant piece of engineering,. / Maybe a visit for us one day... Cheers from Dj.

I cannot agree more re the power of these small engines. I am sure one was pulling the driver + 6 passengers. For it to work, it must indeed mimic the real thing. I am pretty sure that the boiler itself must have a certificate of safety. My pleasure to share.

The men look very serious Herb ;-) I must admit, I wouldn't mind a ride on them either!

Serious business for sure but the punters had little smiles on their facers. Always good to go back to our childhood Rosa.
