The beauty of our Earth’s troposphere.

The beauty of our Earth’s troposphere.
Enjoy with me this beautiful sun-setting sky and clouds. Taken last year whilst on the Yorkshire coast near Runswick Bay. Who could imagine a better sky scene than this?
NB. ‘troposphere’ definition: the lowest region of the atmosphere, extending from the earth's surface to the tropopause, an inclusive height of about 6–10 km (to the lower boundary of the stratosphere).

Enjoy full screen.

a new word for me, troposphere! and it is probably one of my favorite places in our world, especially when it has gorgeous scenes like what you've photographed here.

a really lovely photo.

would you put it in my group 'naturey crap - crappy nature'? (name explained on group page) if you like.

Hi Raingirl. Very happy you liked this one. Yes, in this I thought I might bring some knowledge as well.

Sorry about not putting the photo in your group, I feel at odds with its purpose!

Have a great day. Herb

I understand about the group - it is hard to explain the purpose, and it is kind of 2 groups in one, so that just confuses the issue.

The group is because I get this feeling about nature photos, something like, 'another freakin' beautiful nature photo!', like, how can i look at yet another pretty picture. But in reality, I love nature photos and want to keep looking at them. Thus the name 'Naturey crap'. The other half of the name 'crappy nature' - is from the idea that some people judge their nature photos so harshly that they don't share them in a group. This half of the group is a place for those who are simply unsure of their photos to post.

So the group is free of judgement about nature photos - whether it's that there are simply too many of them, or that they are felt to not be "good" enough. Simply a place to enjoy all things nature.

How's that for confusing! So of course you can do as you wish with your photo!! I still really love this one.

Hi again. You know, I had a real issue with all this. Part of me fully understands what you are talking about and the purpose of the group. I guess, when once, somebody described one of my scenic landscapes as 'crap', I took offence! I should have been stronger but I wasn't. I guess, I am still not strong enough to describe my photos as that and putting this into your group would always cause conflicts within me so better for both of us for me to play safe. I still thank you for considering one of my photos though and we remain good Ipernity friends. ~ Herb

Just so you know, I certainly am NOT describing your photo as "crap". Far from it. I'm sorry if the group suggestion distressed you. I really love this photo and only wanted it in the group so I could find it easier over time. And I wasn't trying to convince you to add it to the group, only trying to explain my crazy group in general.

Please forgive me if I recommend another of your photos for the group - I can't keep track of all such details about who like which group. Simply reject the suggestion and know I've only done it because I DO like your photo.

peace.

Thanks for this Toz and also your comment re that group. I find it a bit strange that folk should ever think of posting 'cr.ppy' pictures here on Ipernity but when I look at the photos in there, there are many excellent nature photos though. Maybe its just me? (and now you too :))

Hi Keith. We often see interesting skies but we don't always have the chance to capture them as I did here. This colouration lasted for about 10 minutes before it all went dark again. Glad you liked it.

A great sky, Herb. By definition the troposphere extends up to the tropopause (lower near the poles than in the tropics).

Thanks for this George. Great that you liked this one which on reflection you obviously would.

Of course you certainly know about such things as our atmosphere and weather and in such you are the expert here. On further research you are absolutely right in that technically the Troposphere's upper limit is called the tropopause and it is that which borders the stratosphere.

I believe that all our weather is generated in the lower reaches of our atmosphere (The troposphere including the tropopause).

Thanks Steve. I have taken a lot of cloud pictures in my time but I think that this is up with the best. I can't believe that you did not know these words.: troposphere & tropopause.
