Staycation

Staycation
Definition: a holiday spent in one's home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions.
As we park at the local carpark we chance to see this wonderful expansive beach full of people taking a staycation. We are at Lligwy Beach here on the north coast of Anglesey, Wales. It’s been a while since we have seen beaches full like this. Anglesey is a popular place for families from Cheshire and Lancashire to visit.

Our walk continues far from the maddening crowd.

Enjoy full screen.

Yes, the local economy really needs this and families need a break before schools restart again. For many this would have been the first real holiday since the Pandemic started. A big caravan park was just up the road from here.

Thanks Roger. Hours later this beach was far bigger and so people far more spread out. We did keep walking after snapping this one, but to return later to retrieve our car, just close by here.

Jose, as I say to Roger and Lothar here, I prefer empty beaches to walk on and photograph but it did my heart good on this occasion to see this full beach.

Good to see people out and about again Herb, and you have captured a fine overview. All the coastal towns seem to be doing well this year. I'm off to Sidmouth for a day next week....have to go to the Donkey Sanctuary first of course ;-)
Sunday greetings, Rosa.

Thanks Rosa. Yes, I have seen on TV just how crowded many of our beaches have been this warm Summer. We are in Cornwall (health permitting) in a few weeks time and hope it will have all quietened down by then. Sidmouth is a beautiful spot, enjoy that day and the Sanctuary.

Sunday Greetings to you too. Herb

September often has better weather than August, which won't be difficult this year! We are going in October, but I will enjoy it whatever the weather :-))

Good evening,

Hi Toz, yes I can quite understand your sentiment. Moelfre, where we were walking to, had much the same feelings for me. More from Anglesey in a few weeks time.

Ah that would be 'Far from the Madding Crowd' - I don't think I have seen it but know the expression well. Thanks for the call Daniela.

A lovely image Herb................and it's good to see people out enjoying themselves and the local economy will definitely benefit............but not my cup of tea. Far to many people about..!! Even before the pandemic, I would avoid busy beaches!

I hope you enjoyed your walk and no doubt you'll be posting a pic or two soon. Take care!

Glad you liked the image Keith. Not our cup-o-tea neither but something different to see nevertheless. Next from near here a little more tranquil, I think.

Take care too. Herb

Es ist den Menschen gegönnt hier ein paar entspannte Stunden zu genießen. Ich liebe aber auch Orte, die einsamer sind.

Beautifully colorful, Herb, and, ever a people watcher, I enjoyed studying the various groups of staycationers in your remarkably detailed shot. :)
It's also interesting to me that, while on our beaches color comes mostly from the beach umbrellas people tend to bring for protection against the glaring sun, here it comes from what I suppose are barriers against the wind.
