Fenced-in Conservatory

There is something going on here at Oldham’s Alexandra Park Conservatory. The whole inside almost pulsates with light as though some link to another world is taking place… And…someone or something has transported all the beautiful hot-house plants to …where? - Only to replace them with bits of wood in a most haphazard, even explosive fashion! It’s perhaps just as well that a high well-locked fence protects us on this side, as there is no telling what might happen to us if we should try to pass through that door!

Good to see you Dave. I smiled at your idea of what was inside. In truth, it seems that the parks department are fully renovating this grand hot-house. It was quite ole and I think it will need almost completely rebuild. Certainly most if not all the extensive glass-work will be replaced or made so good that we can't tell the difference. They are also going to renovate the nearby very big wonderful pergola -already surrounded by scaffolding and boards. Glad you liked this.

Magical light Herb................but I'm glad you didn't let it pull you in................I suspect the conservatory is a gateway to another dimension! Take heed of the two screaming faces at the bottom of your shot (see my note)..!!

Besides the light........I like the dilapidated look of the paintwork and the dirty glass. A super find and an excellent capture. I love it..!!

Great to see you Keith. I fully agree with you and yes, I did notice those two poor characters on the floor there. I thought I could hear some screams too. (probably the foreman at one of the workers who was doing wrong :) ) I have always fancied the idea of photographing such subject but rarely get a chance. It does indeed look like a threshold to a spirit world, Herb. The light filtering through the dust speckled window panes creates an amazing atmosphere and once again you prove your wonderful eye for light!
