NEQ6 Pro Upgrade.

NEQ6 Pro Upgrade.
The mount is out of action as its getting a major upgrade, the internals all cogs and gears full of backlash are removed. This was the reason why I bought the mount in the first place second hand as I knew of the Upgrade. the upgrade is its replaced with toothed belts and spindles and 100% no backlash.

I was given the task by Carlos to learn and come to terms with mono filters and how to use them. the following photos are NOT MINE but the processing is after I had learnt the way to process the images.. All these are taken on a B/W camera but with filters Ha S2 O3 its how you then put together gives you the colour. so you are going to see colours you have never seen before these are the ELEMENTS that make up the Object. contrast my colour camera version before each group.

NGC 2244 Rosette Nebula

Rosette Nebula HA O3 O3

Rosette Nebula Hubble pallet

Horse Head Nebula(NGC2023) and Flame Nebula(NGC2024).

Horse Head Nebula Hubble pallet

Horse head Nebula hubble Pallet green removed.

I would like to thank Carlos for making his images available to use and learn from I have been lent a filter wheel and a camera so I will try some thing myself to see how the results are on my gear. once the mount comes back.

Please respect the photos as not mine but for you to enjoy, do not copy them..

Frans Schols, tiabunna, cammino, Ruebenkraut and 8 other people have particularly liked this photo

thanks Nick the filter show up the different elements in the nebula eg Ha hydrogen,S2 Sulphur and O3 is Oxygen. while its a B/W photo each photo is totally different because the filters show up the Element in its spectrum or colour range. Its when you put those into the RGB format you get these colours and the combination you can put them in that gives you the colours.Hubble pallet S2HaO3 gives you the blue or Almost normal Ha O3O3 gives you the red Rosette( its natural colour).

just like you can take a colour photo on a B/W camera by using L,R,G,B filters but the big advantage is B/W camera captures more details but you have to take 4 separate B/W photos to make the coloured photo

dont worry It was also very confusing to be given the masters that make these shots and seeing them to see the end result you see above. Its a very different way of looking at the objects in space in there elemental form. the big advantage the B/W with filters is no limited by the moon light like a normal coloured camera so more shot times. B/W is only stopped by clouds or rain where as a coloured camera is stopped by clouds, rain and too much moon light.

Its in effect just a different way of taking photos but sure is a lot of work in processing the photos. the results look out of this world though. as an old film photographer its almost too much work to to do all this its no 5 min job. I have to say it was good to have the chance to give it a go. DJ it keeps the brain working and learning.
