The Gap - Read below.

The Gap - Read below.
The Gap is a cavern some 40 meters high to the viewing platform which was new to us so was keen to get out and see it.

This is one of the few occasions I did not go see the place, the sea spray was heavier than the showers we where getting. I asked my brother in law to stop before the car park safely so I could try and take a few photos. the shots are between the windscreen wiper blades and the bus rocking in the strong winds. The cars and people getting out of the cars where totally drenched by the Sea spray from the huge waves. Just see if you can spot the horizion......

for the shot to make any sense look at the PIP the before the wave struck. I still have a working camera!

You have no idea just the amount of water in the air so it sure would be the death of any camera.

Yep, keeping inside your vehicle best advice here. These scenes often look exciting and atmospheric to us keen photographers but our personal and equipment's wellbeing is all important. You did well to get this and still keep dry.

Herb

ps -far more reminiscent of our Winter coastal scenes.

you are right on both thoughts Albany weather would be best described as English weather. I knew the wave on the sea side would be high but not quite this big. not a place to take and thing like our camera's. the net result to those cars in rust would be huge over the coming life span.

the power of the sea alright and be the death of any camera unless in a water proof housing. not at all like this in summer but also far more people in the area as well.
