Swamp rabbit swimming across pond

Swamp rabbit swimming across pond

I think Branco chased it out of its home on the other side of the pond. A turtle is watching the rabbit swim by.

This is neither a muskrat nor a beaver. It is a rabbit. All the rabbits in North America have big ears. Thanks for your visit and comment.

Neither had I seen a swimming rabbit before this one. I think my dog Branco may have chased it into the pond, so it had to swim across.

Thanks, Sarah. It was a first for me. I got a lot of so-so photos before the rabbit got into the sunshine on the other side of the pond. It disappeared on the opposite shore right after this. I hope it is living happily.

This is the first time I've seen a rabbit swimming, Fred. I think it was an emergency for the rabbit.

Cool. I didn't know rabbits can swim. I guess there's no reason why not but quite a surprise!

Thank you very much, Andrew. It was a big surprise for me (and probably the rabbit), too.

Me, too. I just discovered this species is rather common from east Texas to Alabama.
