Glückswidderchen - Zygaena fausta

Das Glückswidderchen heißt auch Bergkronwicken-Widderchen und ist ein besonders farbiger Kleinschmetterling. Er ist selten und gefährdet, denn er ist auf eine ganz bestimmte Pflanze angewiesen: Für Eiablage und Nahrung der Raupe benötigt er die Bergkronwicke Coronilla coronata. Diese Spezialisierung beschränkt das Vorkommen des Glückswidderchens allein auf die Wuchsorte dieser Pflanze. Das Glückswidderchen fliegt von Mitte Juli bis Mitte August. Der Falter braucht blütenreiche Waldränder und Wiesen mit Wildem Dost, Flockenblume und Skabiose.
In Bayern kommt das Glückswidderchen vor allem im Muschelkalkgebiet von Mainfranken vor. Im Bild ein Glückswidderchen auf einer Skabiose; es entstand in einem Naturschutzgebiet über den Muschelkalkfelsen bei Karlstadt am Main.
Glückswidderchen stehen auf der Roten Liste und gelten als sehr gefährdet!

Zygaena fausta is a particularly colourful small butterfly. It is rare and endangered because it is dependent on a very specific plant: To lay eggs and feed the caterpillar, it needs the plant Coronilla coronata. This specialisation limits the occurrence of the Zygaena fausta to the growing locations of this plant alone. Zygaena fausta flies from mid-July to mid-August. The butterfly needs flowering forest edges and meadows with Origanum vulgare, Centaurea and Scabiosa.
In Bavaria, Zygaena fausta is mainly found in the Muschelkalk area of Mainfranken. The picture was taken in a nature reserve above the Muschelkalk rocks near Karlstadt am Main (Franconia, Germany) and shows Zygaena fausta on a Scabiosa blossom.
Zygaena fausta butterflies are on the German Red List and are considered very endangered!
