The original arches were built in 1848 with the outer steel girders added in 1903.

What a terrific image. The dark underside and the light beyond. A beautiful contrast.

A very fine study of these bridges, capturing such splendid contrasts of light and dark. I particularly like the reflections of the rivets in the water. Such an eye for detail you have!

I remember posting a photo of the reflection of just the rivets, and I called it submerged pianos. I still think that the reflected rivets look like piano keys.

Another fascinating view, the different styles of the arches look harmonious. That's quite a lot of debris that hopefully will be carried away without causing damage.

Railway bridges often are unappreciated gems and sometimes it is the detail not the wider view that takes the eye. It is amazing that quite early railway structures are still doing the jobs the Victorians built them to do. There are original pillars from London's first railway The London & Greenwich Railway, still holding up the main lines out of London Bridge Station. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/36757110/in/album/1053034

Lovely Victorian railway architecture, Amelia. I love the play between light and shadow. Your use of perspective is very effective. All the best, Joe
