The heart of the matter

Castanea sativa, Sweet chestnut. These are lovely to eat after roasting, but there was so much squirrel activity that we didn't find any fully ripe chestnuts.

Don't tell you wanted to steal the chestnuts to the squirrells, Amelia. :-)) These chestsnuts are a bit strange. This is the time we have lots of them at the market, as all the mountains here around are full of trees.
