I love the light through the leaves revealing the structures.

The flowers should be out next week, Gudrun, but I like the leaves too.. I have been in the garden and out walking for most of the day. Hopefully I'll manage to produce something for TSC before it's too late. ;-)

These are the leaves of a bearded iris, Herbert. They are much stiffer than those of maize, but they are both monocotyledons with parallel veins.

It can be difficult to identify a plant if one only sees the leaves. :-)))

Many thanks, Pam. I hope the iris flowers live up to expectations. Someone gave me small tubers 3 years ago, and so far I don't even know what colour the flowers will be.

Amelia.... the place I moved to here in Oklahoma... I have bearded Irises.(Look in my flowers album !) It is a voyage of discovery as to what they are even 5 years later... I have many.. but few flower.. but the surprises are wonderful. Also.. its one of the few things the gophers do not eat !

thank you for that really lovely compliment, Wally.. let's hope that Ipernity lasts long enough and beyond so that I can post photos of the flowers and the seedheads.

Yes, again another monocot, Peter, but so much larger. The Lily of the Valley in ,y garden is almost in flower, and a few sprays inside the house will smell lovely.

It's quite graphic isn't it, Graham? No soft foliage here, but lots of structure.
