This is the colour that came 'out of the can', Keith. Everything was so arid in Malta. In fact I'm surprised that anything was flowering.

I don't know how to do selective colour photos, Adele. This photo is untouched by Photoshop or any other post-processing programme. I was very aware of the sun in Malta - far too hot for me. ;-)

No selsctive colour used, Graham. The countryside in Malta was mostly ochre in colour, with little in the way of much else except relentlessly blue skies for the most part. Far too hot for a freckled Scot like me! ;-)

Everyone keeps mentioning selective colour, Gudrun. This is just as it was when the shutter was clicked. Thistles have wonderfultextures, and the stemless thistle shows the prickly leaves off best of all. But - don't touch!l

Thank you, Peter. The only colour present was in the the sepals and fluffy seeds of this thistle. I'm surprised that ther was any colour at all. Malta was arid when we visited.
