Ulverston mud

Ulverston mud
The small rock that can be seen on the horizon is called Capel Island. At low tide it's possible to walk over to it provided that there are guides and rescue vehicles available. The rapidly rising tide can be very dangerous.

It is most definitely mud, and the wading birds love feeding here.

We didn't have our wellies with us, Steve, but even if we had, I wouldn't fancy the mud walk. It's a lovely spot though, with a small hotel right on the coast. We had a balcony room.
Cheers, Amelia

It look so deceptively calm though I gather Morecambe bay is dangerous.

The rising tide can be treacherous, Gudrun, and I'm sure you remember the tragedy of the Chinese cocklers who were stranded and eventually drowned here.

Gudrun club has replied to Amelia club
I do remember the Chinese tragedy, it made the news even in Germany.

So do I, Roger. The ebb and flow of the tide is always fascinating.

Sometimes I wish I was childlike enough to go and roll in it Cheryl. But I get back to reality and think about the laundry. Far too sensible these days! ;-)

Don't worry, Sarah. They say that mud is very good for the complexion. Not that you need that of course! You might have to remove your high heel though. ;-)

It's an interesting coastline, Rosa, and well worth a visit. The hotel is called the Bay Horse and has wonderful views from the dining room and the bedrooms.

Beautiful shot and your description of the inn is appealing. One does get a bit too old for the mud, but there certainly was a day when the mud would have been the only thing of interest.

Isn't it a pity that we all get very sensible when we grow up, Ron? The only 'naughty' thing I like doing these days is getting my clothes wet in the sea when I am playing with our youngest grandson - who of course has swim trunks on! ;-)

:)))) well the MUD might do my face some good, but I don't have to worry about those heels dear Amelia :), I don't think I would have them on at this site. :))) and too, dear Amelia, my heels are getting "lower and lower" these days :)))) I have them, (only for very special events) but mostly use my favorite shoe styles with some slight elevation! :)) are we getting older or what ? :)))) Hugs your way, Sarah

Amelia club has replied to Sarah O' club
My footwear consists of a pair of wellingtons, a pair of walking boots, a pair of hiking sandals, some cute red boots - flat - for wearing in town, and 2 pairs of low heels for formal occasions - which are thankfully rare. Imelda Marcos I am not. ;-)
