Another nice day here so I decided on a walk to see my Old Mam.
I decided to bypass going over the big climb and instead detoured through town via bus and wandered to the old Steelworks reservoir. This is now a pretty walk with paths and benches to sit on and two man made islands for the birds to be safe at nesting time. The local angling club keep it well stocked with fish so the birds have a rare old time. As I approached a couple of Graylag geese 3 Mute swans and some Mallard spotted me and came to say hello. They were only seeing if I carried food which I didn't. A Graylag was first ashore you can see him peeping in the corner of the swan photo. A couple of Mallard squatted at my feed hoping for a reward, and a Black Swan glided up to see what the fuss was about. Farther out some Tufted ducks were being very aloof, they are true diving birds so maybe the thought of mans leftovers didn't appeal.Anyway the rest of the birds deciding I had nothing for them glided away, waiting for the next walker to mug. I have posted a few snaps of the birds. Click here.

I found mother in good fettle apart from the sciatica, arthritis and other things that plague her life.
I had taken her some marmalade and jam in little one serving sachets, much less wasteful than throwing half a mouldy jar away in a few months.

We caught up on the news, I had a pretend fight with her cat and then left them to it and returned home for lunch. The sun still shines but it is a bitterly cold wind not time for shedding layers yet. Catch you later enjoy the snaps
