Okay I tried very hard not to light my coal fire until November, but to be totally honest, it's so damn cold here that I felt I was only a day off so what the hell...................

I must admit it is nice sitting here with cosy flames next to me and the warmth in this room is wonderful. Pippin sat near it for a few minutes, then decided he preferred the cold of the other lounge and went there!!!!!!!!!!!! There's no pleasing him - I thought cats gravitated towards fires, but not him - he's different.

I also made a lovely lamb stew in the slow-cooker. Well I say "lovely" but it's still cooking but the aroma is gorgeous so I'm just hoping that it tastes as lovely as it smells........I've decided to put it cooking for about 6 hours on low, so should be ready around 7pm. Also I'll pop out into the kitchen around 6pm and put some peas in and also make some lovely suet dumplings to simmer slowly for an hour.

The material has arrived already for Yvonne's quilt. The colours are more muted that I thought, which is great, because they'll really fit in with her colour scheme. I'm going to add some cream and red as well, so hopefully this quilt will look okay for her.

Okay I am going to go and fetch in some more coal before it rains again and also before it gets too dark to see what I'm doing.

I do hope everyone over there in the US are safe and warm. I am thinking of you all having this awful storm affecting your lives. Take care please. xx
