Ha Ha Ha Ha

In the beginning of my countries history (ahem, after we defeated the British when it counted) we had the Tory and the Whig parties, And we had George Washington who, although he was largely responsible for the French/Indian war, and in part the reason Benedict Arnold became a traitor, was the “Father of our country”. He disagreed with having “factions” as he called them. He believed that by having opposing parties running the country that it was asking for trouble. And he was right. I firmly believe that the only representation any country has, should be simply the person best for the job. The problem now is most politicians follow party line and their pocket. As to whats good for the people they work for? Screw them is the mentality.

Thanks Gracie. Totally agree with you. Most are simply career politicians, paving their way for lucrative jobs once they leave politics.

Only problem is here they don't ever leave if they can help it. For example, they get elected for a 2 year term? They "work" a year maybe and the rest of the time campaign for reelection. We call them csreer politicians. IE Bernie Sanders. You may have heard of him. Politician his entire life with practically nothing else under the belt. Biden, 47 years as a politician doing nothing until now as president doing nothing good.

I must admit I get fed up with both parties spending all their time sniping at each other. It's all very well and good saying that "this needs to be done or that needs to be done and the Government hasn't seen to it" - we all know that, but what no-one has said is how THEY would handle the situation. They just complain about each other. Nothing gets done. I do believe a coalition government would work better at the moment. So people would be working with each other to get things done instead of complaining about what's not being done.

Yes they are all looking towards what lucrative jobs etc they can have when they leave the Government. It's all money, money with them - just wish they'd consider what we pensioners who can't earn extra money, can manage with the meagre offers from them.

The politicians are too busy arguing / posturing & looking to cushion their "retirement" from Parliament to actually do anything significant or long-term.
Nothing much changes because the senior members of the civil service - who make all the "real" decisions / policies - don't change every few years !
That Civil Service induced stability should be a good thing - but, often, it isn't !
