This week passed quickly, again. Workwise, that's always a good thing. I managed to escape with doing only 3 hours overtime, which was fine with me. It's been so hot, not been sleeping well, and I've been crabby as anything. Thankfully, I now have 2 days off.

The week went well, though Sunday proved to be 'interesting' lol. Due to Sunday Trading Laws, we don't open until 09.30 on a Sunday, and can't serve at the tills until 10am. This has been the way for decades now. Nothing to do with us, it's the law. Anyway, at 08.30 I noticed a man in the entrance, inside the store, trying to get out. Others had seen him too though they weren't confident about confronting him. As I said, I was crabby lol. I approached him, holding my scanner in a fairly menacing way and asked what he was doing. He stated he'd popped in to use the loo, then found he'd been locked in. WTF? I ascertained he had no 'goods' on him and let him out, and told him we don't open until 09.30. I was polite but forthright; he shouldn't be in the store. Afterwards I found the duty manager and told him what had happened and he ensured both doors were locked so nobody else could come in.

Later, I was just coming back from break when I heard the fire alarm going off. I asked if it was a drill as I hadn't heard any announcements in the canteen, and was informed it wasn't. A colleague and I walked the aisles ensureing customers were leaving. A message came over the tannoy for all customers and staff to vacate, however I still had to tell some customers to leave. Now, there was no smoke or flames, and no smell of burning, but a fire alarm is a fire alarm! We quickly ensured nobody was left inside then went to the fire point outside whilst security manned the doors preventing anyone from going back in. One shopper had even taken his trolley out the fire door with him. He's a known regular and has mobility issues so we forgave him, though he was advised to ensure he took his trolley back in afterwards so he could pay. The fire engines, 2, turned up very quickly and somebody ascertained that it was a false alarm. I didn't see the fire officers as we were far from the entracnce. Damn! LMAO

So, an exciting Sunday. Monday I have to go out and buy some new trousers for work. I had some for free, from the uniform order line, but they were awful so I returned them. Today, I noticed there were two small holes in the front of my trousers from the pocket where my phone sits. Unlike some people, I don't wear ripped/damaged clothes out in public. I have to replace the phone next year due to the shutdown of the 3G network (whut?). I can still use 2G, apparently, though the reception and speed may not be good. We've each had our mobile phones for a little over 5 years now, so maybe it's time to replace them anyway. My phone turns itself off, and on, in my pcket and if I have to take a call, I have trouble hearing the caller so it's not great anyway. I plan to get a smaller phone to avoid the wear and tear on my pockets. That's the plan...

Hope you're enjoying this cooler weather, I know I am. Take care, and have a good week next week.
