    In 1966 Gene Pitney recorded the cut "Flamingo" for the album "Backstage". Although it may be disputed this was the first recording of the song according to composer Mark Barkan. Manfred Mann (Manfred Lubowitz aka Mann, Paul Pond aka Jones, Tom
