    Climate Change shutterstock 1340281253

With today’s climate change strike protests by young people (who have the most to lose) across the world the question arises, did the world miss its best chance to unleash a “green” revolution? Back in late 2008 and early 2009, when the world was experiencing the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s, former World Bank Chairman Nicholas Stern stated, “the economic case for tackling the global climate crisis is more compelling than ever” [1] since downturns and dis… (read more)

• Reflections on the Green

Short story of my life to frame my thoughts on green: Born in Ohio, raised in Florida, lived in NYC for 4 years -which is the great reason I moved to Alaska. Looking back on my Florida years I recall a certain discomfort that I just couldn’t put my finger on at the time. In retrospect I suspect it was the constant greenness, the lack of seasons I had experienced in my very early years. New York City; An interesting period, States of Emergency called over 3 inches of snow. Taking the ferr… (read more)

  • My green lawn is no more

My green lawn is no more

The only problem with this heatwave and boy I don't want to moan, is the fact that my green lawn is no more! Now I love this weather and having the windows open all day and in some cases, all night, but I don't have a garden hose anymore so keeping the grass and garden watered is a task I can't do anymore!!!! See what I mean? This is quite depressing to look out the lounge window and just see straw and brown grass. Even the mombretia is looking sad and it's usually very resillient.… (read more)

  • A nice stroll,Lakeland fells,rabbits,green stuff,ships and boats

I managed to get 5 miles in this morning before the rain started again. I walked over to get some pipe fodder, going through the little haven and coming back via the dockside. I snapped a couple of rabbits amongst the greenery in the haven before carrying on to Morrison's to pick some pipe fodder up. From there it is a short stroll through their car park to the dockside so I took some shots of the ships waiting to load before climbing the steps to the bridge where I spotted a sailing dingy way d… (read more)

  • Green stuff naughty computer and congrats to Summer

A small glitch on my computer. When it goes to sleep the little bugger won't wake up again so I turned the sleep mode off until I figured it out.A little problem to solve that's always fun. I had a couple of inquiries about how the border of wild and mixed border flowers is doing so in a short break from the rain I took a photo. An abundance of greenery but very little colour at the moment.I took this shot low to the ground which makes the growth look taller than it is.The little patches I cl… (read more)

  • green stuff and a Jackdaw

Another lovely sunny day here so I have been pottering in the garden sawing wood up for disposal. This bush in John's is in full bloom now and really brightens the place up Still not much on my side of the fence apart from the Common Mallow and Forget-me-nots but the borders are full of greenery now so I hope for a good splash of colour. This Jackdaw has become a daily visitors,he doesn't stop long just nibbles on the fat balls and flies of again. As I have said before I do like his blue… (read more)
