West Bay Station

West Bay Station
West Bay railway station was the terminus of Bridport Railway in west Dorset. It only exists today, renovated as a diner with two railway carriages sat on a short length of track alongside the well kept station buildings. The PiP's are of the harbour and the cliffs made famous by the TV series "Broadchurch".

Great shots from West Bay Rosa. The busy marina looks good with the calm waters and nice reflections. The picture of the beach and the dramatic cliffs is a cracker, the figures on the sands give a great reference to the height of the cliffs. The station looks really nice, and what a great use of the carriages. Do they sell the original BR cheese sandwich, I do miss them;-))

All the best, Doug

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I am still having problems focusing with my camera, so I wasn't happy with a lot of the shots, especially of the cliffs, but I have picked what I consider to be the better ones. Ha ha, they've gone a bit upmarket in these carriages since the BR cheese sandwich days Doug ;-))

Take care and have a good Sunday,
Rosa.

Good morning Rosalyn a nasty wet one I hope you have some sun, it's good see that the station is being preserved and used it's a shame that the train doesn't go anywhere, dinning car services on the GCR are very popular. I hope that the rest of your day is pleasant

Good morning Peter, it's a lovely sunny day here....maybe we will get the rain tomorrow! So many railway stations closed without a trace, like where I live. At least this one still has the building and it's made use of. Have a good day and I hope the weather is better tomorrow for you.

There was a railway here but it only carried granite from the quarry, the nearest station would have been Glenfield at the entrance to the tunnel which was the longest in the world when it opened in 1832

I love this little series............great to see the preserved length of platform and buildings, they look good and have a practical use as well. I also like your compostion.

The first PiP is lovely, especially in the sunshine. I like all the colourful little boats and the reflections. The second PiP is my favourite. Those magnificent cliffs really dominate that bit of the coast. Nicely composed with some people on the beach for scale.

Have a good day!

Thank you so much Keith. The diner seems to be very popular. I am pleased you like the little harbour and thank you for your kind comments on the second PiP. I have walked the length of the cliffs along the bottom to Burton Bradstock and they can feel very overpowering. I think it's best to walk along the top....but not too close to the edge!

Have a great day and good new week.

Salud Rosa.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
Yes you are right José Manuel, I am having problems focusing with my camera unfortunately. I deleted many of the pictures taken on the day. The building on the left in the first PiP, I think is a seafood restaurant and adjoined to it are flats. I don't think there are caves along the cliffs. They are quite unstable.
Good evening and good new week.

I think you would enjoy the coves between West Bay and Weymouth.

Ah!

The "Broadchurch" TV series: we really liked it!
And I find that this really atypical cliff has played a significant role in the interest of this series!

As for this small station and its "train", I love it !!!!!!
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Nouchetdu38 club
I didn't know "Broadchurch" was that widely seen Nouchet!
A lot of the town scenes were taken in Clevedon, Somerset.
It's fun to spot all the places we know, when they are filmed close to home :-))

Thank you for your kind comments and I am pleased you like these pictures.
