Yes, so true.
I'm always looking for the vegetation in a big city. (My city is filled with it, so when traveling I'm always a bit surprised at how little there can be sometimes.) I love how such a plant can survive!

Is that a faun looking down wondering where all the woods and fields have gone?

Great discovery, Laura!
I think the plant would have had a hard time getting a foothold on the modern building, and on the historic building with its extraordinary charm, it is the icing on the cake.

Thanks!
We actually have a modern building in Portland that added metal work extending just off the exterior of the whole building for plants to grow up.

So I must be a plant... ;-)
The details are very elegant and the parallel, in my opinion, is cruel: functional simplification forgets an important part of the human soul and culture, its art in particular.
But the debate remains open and very virulent!
What's your preference, Laura - if you have one?
raingirl club has replied to Eric Desjours club
Oh, I like both - but only the best of both. I think that there are modern buildings that include some human/soul and those are enjoyable to me, and there are old that are stark in their details that make me shiver - though usually it's the other way around. So I take each one on their own merits. And then there's the purpose of the building - some can be inviting to view, but not functional inside at all. But I like to complicat things - haha.

Yes! And interesting to me that the colors of the buildings are so close - but still the buildings are so different.

I think they both have their beauties - but I'd rather be around all old buildings than all modern buildings.

Thanks for visiting my photo (and suggesting groups).
