Happy Wednesday Wall !

Viele kennen nur die berühmte Skulptur "Sphaera" (Mann auf goldener Kugel) auf dem Kapitelplatz in Salzburg > Siehe PiP.
Aber das "Kunstprojekt Salzburg 2007" von Stephan Balkenhol besteht aus aus zwei Objekten. Dazu gehört die 140 cm hohe "Frau im Fels" im Toscaninihof, die an eine Tunnelheilige erinnern soll.
Beide Figuren enthalten uns ihre Geschichte vor, und sind zunächst einmal nur, was wir sehen: ein überlebensgrosser Mann auf einer Kugel und eine unterlebensgrosse Frau in einer Felswand. Ob mehr dahinter steckt - ein kunsthistorisches Zitat, ein religiöser oder politischer Kommentar - lässt der Künstler bewusst offen.

Stephan Balkenhol (geb. 1957 in Fritzlar, Hessen) studierte an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg bei Ulrich Rückriem. Seine internationale Karriere begann mit dem Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Stipendium 1983. Es folgten zahlreiche Ausstellungen weltweit. Seine Skulpturen im öffentlichen Raum waren bzw. sind in London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Zürich und Hamburg zu sehen. Stephan Balkenhol ist seit 1992 Professor an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe.

Karin, nein, 1.40 m ist schon fast 1:1. Aber warum er die Dame nicht gleich in Realgrösse gemacht hat, weiss ich auch nicht.
Vom Mann gibt es übrigens keine verbindliche Grössenangabe, aber er ist sicher übergross.
