Old Swan
The building dates from the 1860s. A look at CAMRA's pub heritage page indicates that there's more to the interior than I managed to spot - a return visit is required!
Smoke Room
The pub was busy on my lunchtime visit, but the Smoke Room was empty, so I took a couple of photos.
That's my pint of Olde Swan Original in the foreground

Ma Pardoes
The pub is commonly known as Ma Pardoes, after Doris Clare Pardoe (born 1899) who owned it until her death in 1984 at 85 years old.
Open all day, as you can see.

In Lambeth Palace Garden

We were particularly taken by the cloud-effect bush behind these "red-hot poker" plants
Lambeth Palace
Lambeth Palace Gardens are open on the first Wednesday of summer months at a cost of £4. Obviously, the sun didn't emerge till we were back at work.

The dome

I didn't go up (too many other things to do). If you want to stick around, there's a restaurant up there, apparently.

Border fortifications

From the Documentation Centre, there is a view into a barriered-off section which gives an indication of what the wall used to look like on the East side
Wall Bricks
The course of the wall is marked throughout by a double line of bricks set into the road or pavement.

A view of the so-called "History Mile" looking east. Information boards tell the stories of some of those who attempted to escape to the west
Bergstrasse
Bergstrasse was severed by the construction of the wall in 1961 and has been left much as it was.
