After The Storm
| |

This was a sunset I took after a storm back in the 1970s. Do you remember 1978? It was simpler times.

Look! It's A Cookie!
| |
This was an old sugar cookie I threw out for the birds to eat. They liked it and ate it all.
I like to feed the birds and watch them on my front porch, through the comfort of the window in my front door. I can be inside, where it's warm, and they can do their thing on the outside without having to worry about me being there.

These are the grilled cheese sandwiches I made with the first homemade sandwich bread I made tonight. They were very tasty!

Homemade Sandwich Bread
| |
Tonight, I made this bread recipe for the first time. It's for sandwich bread like you buy at the store and I was skeptical it would turn out like it was supposed to. But, it did - I was amazed. It tasted like store-bought bread and was even light and fluffy, too. It turned out so well, I sliced some of it off and made a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with it. They were delicious as well!

This was taken at a funeral held on July 20th, 2013. Hearses are almost like a station wagon. Taken with my Kodak Easy Share M1073 IS digital point and shoot camera.

I photographed this interesting little statue in a yard of someone's house I was doing a tile floor job for them.

Happy New Year!
| |
This is a screen capture from an old film noir movie from 1959, called "Guns, Girls and Gangsters." I'd like to wish everybody on Ipernity a very happy new year and I hope it turns out to be a good year for everyone.
Gyro
| |
This is what I made for dinner tonight - Greek gyros. I made them all homemade, with the traditional lamb meat, tzatziki sauce made with cucumbers, and of course big chunks of tomato - all on fresh pita bread I baked this afternoon. (I cooked the lamb meat and made the tzatziki sauce yesterday so it would be ready for today.)

Pita Bread

So, I baked some Pita bread this afternoon. It's because I was going to make Greek gyros for dinner tonight. (Which I did.)

Potticotti
| |
This is what I made for dinner tonight - Potticotti. It may sound slightly familar because it's just a variation of manicotti. Instead of the usual filling inside the manicotti noodles, I make a filling out of potted meat, spices, grated parmesan cheese and an egg. Then I make your typical pasta sauce, pour over it and bake it until the shredded mozzarella cheese on top comes out golden brown. I invented this recipe because I alway thought potted meat got a bad rep a long time ago, while it could be jazzed up and become something for more "upscale" palates.
Although it's only one noodle, this is actually bigger than it looks. The plate is larger than normal size and the manicotti noodle really expanded after I had prepared it.

1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Station Wagon

I saw this cherry looking 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass station wagon sitting at an automotive repair shop. I guess it's owner had sent it in for some minor repairs. I think it's the same color as the 1969 Oldsmobile 98 LS I used to have.

Texas Roadhouse Rolls
| |
These are the homemade rolls I made for Thanksgiving. They're actually the kind of rolls you would get in a steak house, but I really like them at home for just about any occasion, so that's what I go with. They're called Texas Roadhouse Rolls.
Thanksgiving Dinner 2024
| |
This is what I fixed for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy, green beans, stuffing, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. I made everything on Thanksgiving Day except for the pumpkin pies, which I always make the night before Thanksgiving.
Frankenturkey
| |
My turkey this Thanksgiving didn't have any legs or wings on it when I unwrapped it, so I got out a freezer bag of turkey meat, which had two legs and two wings in it, thawed them, and attached them to the body of the bird with corn dog sticks. That's why I called it "Frankenturkey."
Gobbler Gathering
| |
Some members of my church and I travelled over to nearby Evansville, Indiana yesterday so that we could make up boxes of food to give away. The place had two big, long assembly lines and as the boxes moved along it, each person would put their item into the box. Each family got things like green beans, corn, yams, stuffing mix, potatoes, celery and a whole turkey. The event, which was called "Gobbler Gathering," gave out 140,000 pounds of food for the less fortunate so that they could have a good Thanksgiving dinner.
