Taken at a grade school basketball game held on October 30th, 2014. I was there because a friend of mine's son was playing in the game and she invited me to go.

It seems like everything is closing in this world. Where I live, it'll end up with no physical stores for me to shop at. And I don't really like shopping online. I like to see what I'm getting, plus I'll bet the online stores that are putting out all the little Mom and Pop stores around my area, are creating a lot of unemployment. Those Mom and Pops still like to eat, but are losing their livelihood. People aren't going to like it when they have no physical stores to shop at if the power should go off or the internet gets shut down. That wouldn't be very convenient, would it?
I just found out the other day that the drugstore where I get all my prints made has closed. I passed by where they used to be and there was just an empty building - no trace of what used to be inside it. I develop all my own film, but I don't have an enlarger to make any prints, so I need places like Walgreens Drugstore, which closed suddenly, to get my prints done.

This was me at the Shawnee National Forest back in November 4th, 2020. I was shooting with about 7 different cameras that day, so I asked a tourist couple if they would use one of them and take a picture of me with Camel Rock in the distance. This particular park area is called Garden Of The Gods.

Originally named Veterans Bridge when it was built in 1951, it was renamed the Martin Luther King Bridge for King in 1968 after the national civil rights leader was assassinated that year. It spans the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri, crossing into St. Louis at the Laclede's Landing area.

Little Egypt

|
|
|
This is why my area of Southern Illinois is called "Little Egypt." There are several towns here that are named after real places in the Egypt, such as Cairo, Karnak, Thebes, Metropolis and Goshen, etc. There is also architectural nods in the building and decorations of places around the area - such as this doorway at the Marion, Illinois Veterans Hospital. The whole hospital is made to look like an ancient Egyptian structure on the inside.

I took this picture about a year ago and just realized that the image was supposedly created by the late frontman of the band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain.

This looks like a small building at first glance, but I think it was made out of solid concrete. I have no idea what it's function must have been. There are a lot of oil wells around it, so I assume it must have been something related to the oilfield industry.

Lunch

I made some small 12 inch loaves of bread today and they hadn't been out of the oven a half hour before I made this sandwich for lunch. There's nothing like the smell of fresh-baked bread.
Taken on March 7th, 2025, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.
