This is what I made for dinner on Wednesday evening - beef stroganoff. Those noodles are called pappardelle wide noodles and it was the first time I'd ever used some of them. They really worked well in this dish! Taken on February 12th, 2025, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

This is what I fixed for dinner last week - stir-fried noodles with marinated fish. It used the orecchiette pasta from the last picture. The fish was diced up into little pieces and don't show very well, but they're there. Taken on February 1st, 2025, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

This is my first attempt at making cocktail bread, which I did yesterday. For an early birthday present, my sister got me a pan to make loaves this size - it makes three loaves only 2 inches high. And they turned out great! The flour cannister was a wedding present my late parents received in 1959 when they got married.

I attended the Golconda Shrimp Festival back in 2017, hosted by the small town of Golconda, located in Southern Illinois. It is a street fair kind of event, with rides, food stands, a motorcycle show and huge crowds. It was quite enjoyable - especially the shrimp! This was an old sugar cookie I threw out for the birds to eat. They liked it and ate it all. I like to feed the birds and watch them on my front porch, through the comfort of the window in my front door. I can be inside, where it's warm, and they can do their thing on the outside without having to worry about me being there. Taken on January 10th, 2025, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

Tonight, I made this bread recipe for the first time. It's for sandwich bread like you buy at the store and I was skeptical it would turn out like it was supposed to. But, it did - I was amazed. It tasted like store-bought bread and was even light and fluffy, too. It turned out so well, I sliced some of it off and made a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with it. They were delicious as well! This is what I made for dinner tonight - Greek gyros. They were all homemade, with the traditional lamb meat, tzatziki sauce made with cucumbers, and of course big chunks of tomato - all on fresh pita bread I baked this afternoon. (I cooked the lamb meat and made the tzatziki sauce yesterday so it would be ready for today.) Taken on December 31st, 2024, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.
