This is my first attempt at making cocktail bread, which I did yesterday. For an early birthday present, my sister got me a pan to make loaves this size - it makes three loaves only 2 inches high. And they turned out great! The flour cannister was a wedding present my late parents received in 1959 when they got married.

I attended the Golconda Shrimp Festival back in 2017, hosted by the small town of Golconda, located in Southern Illinois. It is a street fair kind of event, with rides, food stands, a motorcycle show and huge crowds. It was quite enjoyable - especially the shrimp! A statue of a sasquatch, commonly referred to as "Bigfoot." He certainly does have big feet! This statue is located in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, in Southern Illinois. Taken on November 4th, 2020, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

This was an old sugar cookie I threw out for the birds to eat. They liked it and ate it all. I like to feed the birds and watch them on my front porch, through the comfort of the window in my front door. I can be inside, where it's warm, and they can do their thing on the outside without having to worry about me being there. Taken on January 10th, 2025, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

Tonight, I made this bread recipe for the first time. It's for sandwich bread like you buy at the store and I was skeptical it would turn out like it was supposed to. But, it did - I was amazed. It tasted like store-bought bread and was even light and fluffy, too. It turned out so well, I sliced some of it off and made a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with it. They were delicious as well! This is what I made for dinner tonight - Greek gyros. They were all homemade, with the traditional lamb meat, tzatziki sauce made with cucumbers, and of course big chunks of tomato - all on fresh pita bread I baked this afternoon. (I cooked the lamb meat and made the tzatziki sauce yesterday so it would be ready for today.) Taken on December 31st, 2024, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

So, I baked some Pita bread this afternoon. It's because I was going to make Greek gyros for dinner tonight. (Which I did.) Taken on December 31st, 2024, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

This is what I made for dinner tonight - Potticotti. It may sound slightly familar because it's just a variation of manicotti. Instead of the usual filling inside the manicotti noodles, I make a filling out of potted meat, spices, grated parmesan cheese and an egg. Then I make your typical pasta sauce, pour over it and bake it until the shredded mozzarella cheese on top comes out golden brown. I invented this recipe because I alway thought potted meat got a bad rep a long time ago, while it could be jazzed up and become something for more "upscale" palates. Although it's only one noodle, this is actually bigger than it looks. The plate is larger than normal size and the manicotti noodle really expanded after I had prepared it. I saw this cherry looking 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass station wagon sitting at an automotive repair shop. I guess it's owner had sent it in for some minor repairs. I think it's the same color as the 1969 Oldsmobile 98 LS I used to have. Taken on October 1st, 2024, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

These are the homemade rolls I made for Thanksgiving. They're actually the kind of rolls you would get in a steak house, but I really like them at home for just about any occasion, so that's what I go with. They're called Texas Roadhouse Rolls.
