Yonge Street & Roxborough Street, Toronto

Yonge Street & Roxborough Street, Toronto
The tower is part of the former Summerhill-North Toronto station of the Canadian Pacific Railway (1916, Darling and Pearson). The station closed in 1930 after Union Station opened, and today the lower floors are Canada's largest liquor store. We're looking north and In the far distance you can see the Wittington Tower, which I posted a photo of a couple of days ago.

Nouchetdu38, Ruebenkraut, Will S., David Slater (Spoddendale) and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

I love the contrast, John, between the modern and old-fashioned styles of architecture. I love also contrast in shapes between circles and rectangles. Kindest regards, Joe

Thanks, Joe. Toronto is a bit on the higgledy-piggledy side.

The tower must have been quite a sight standing alone, Léo, but it may be even more impressive today with the boxy backdrop.

As I nentioned to Joe, George, Toronto, or at least downrown and midtown, is characterized by higgledy-piggledyness.

An amazingly busy skyline, with so much to look at...............something that characterises Toronto I think. The detail is outstanding.

I agree, Keith. Much of downrown and midtown Toronto seems to have been thrown up as quickly as possible, with no time for considering uniformity.
