this photo by John FitzGerald

The intersection of College Street and University Avenue in Toronto.

I believe that when this photo was taken the building was known as the Ontario Power Generation building (1976, Gordon S. Adamson, Kenneth R. Cooper). It's now the Intact Centre, although OPG still has its headquarters there. But then Intact does, too, and it's the bigger company.

I prefer the full-screen view; your opinion may vary (type Z, click the frame at top right).

Will S., Ruebenkraut, Sarah P., Marco F. Delminho and 14 other people have particularly liked this photo

This broken view is a little bit symbol for modern life and architecture in the Big Cities !

It certainly is, Ulrich, but that hadn't occurred to me, Thanks for pointing it out.

Such fantastic distorted reflections John...............and wonderfully sharp and detailed. An outstanding shot!

Definitely deserves to be viewed large!

One building seen in another is invariably interesting. The distortions soften or fragment otherwise uninteresting regularity, probably. Seeing a whole cityscape is unusual, and makes this a special shot. Nice one. The colors all work well together to boot. Though there is an overabundance of traffic lights!

Thanks, Bob. University Ave. is a boulevard, so that adds lights to the intersection. There are also lights for the streetcars that aren't shown here.

And my chief reason for liking this shot is that I think the traffic lights look as if they're dancing,

Aagh! Vampire traffic lights! It's a good thing we both left Toronto. Pray for Swire.
