Edinburgh Castle India Cross (#0439)

Along the entrance to Edinburgh Castle, the India Cross that “commemorates the men of the 78th Highlanders who died during the Indian Rebellion or Mutiny of 1857-8.” Specifically the monument honors a regiment that relieved an Indian city (Lucknow) from Indian soldiers that had taken it over in protest against British rule.
