Berlin wall (#0099)
The longest existing stretch of the former Berlin Wall separating East and West Berlin, stretching west for 1km from the Oberbaumbrücke. Covered with graffiti/murals and lacking watch towers, it doesn’t look nearly as intimidating as it probably did during the Cold War separation of the two Berlins.

There's a long park in another part of town that is the official historical memorial, and better for appreciating the dynamics of it (see photos near this; www.ipernity.com/doc/donbrr/38782490 ). I haven't read anything regarding efforts for long-range preservation of this segment.
