Eureka waterfront (#1035)
Along the wharf seen in the adjacent photo (#1033). In the distance is the bridge for CA-255 which crosses Humboldt Bay from Eureka to the Samoa Peninsula. The boat on the right appeared to be a former military boat converted into a private vessel. Along the wharf were a number of people who appeared to be displaced in some way, plus a couple who were permanent residents of Eureka. The couple and I talked about the boat, the sunset, and the number of displaced in the area, including a man near us who was talking to himself. I asked the couple as to why there seemed to be so many more homeless/displaced, they replied that many described themselves as “just passing through,” even though they seemed to stay in Eureka for weeks.
