Description of Lake Winnemucca, which was an environmentally important body of water but dried up in the late 1930's due to damming of the Truckee and construction of NV-447.

The water was (is) diverted at Derby Dam into a big canal that dumps into Lahontan Reservoir just above the dam. So it's transferred into the Carson River drainage. There wasn't enough left in the river to fill Winnemucca Lake too. No EIS's in those days!
