The Cove Cafe (sign missing) is another example of a classic 'gay diner'. It meets the criteria by being a place to take a trick in the morning or to find community at any time, though it misses one 'gay diner' criteria -- it isn't open 24 hours and thus you can't get breakfast at 3AM when you're winding down from cruising. It has been remodeled a few times in the past 30 years, but has remained a gay community center througout. (Part of a series of photos documenting the parts of the Castro district that have been significant parts of gay culture since at least the 1980's.)
