Detail on the swallow nests at the Bridgeport Courthouse. I'd never seen the swallow nests around the building and a maintenance man said it was unusual. The reason they were there was that usually they take precautions (primarily wire around the top) to keep them from building nests, but had been unable to do that in time this year. He said the policy was to leave the nests there and they'll deal with the problem after the fledglings have left the nest.

I never saw a swallow nest until I was in my 20s. The first time I saw one, I thought they were giant wasp nests. I like the policy of letting the birds fledge before before removing the nests.
