Mono Mills monument (0337)

Mono Mills monument (0337)
Description of the railroad that ran from Mono Mills, along the east shore of Mono Lake, to Bodie. The railroad was narrow gauge and ran only 32 miles. It was not connected to any other railroads, so the engines were brought in, disassembled, by mule-pulled sleds. With changes in technology and demand for gold, the railroad was abandoned in 1917 and all materials sold for scrap in 1918.
