East Midland 726 (G826 KWF) at Clowne – 22 Mar 1992 (158-16)

Sunday 22 March 1992 - East Midland Motor Services Limited 726 (G826 KWF), a Reeve Burgess bodied Mercedes-Benz O 811D new in September 1989 (as fleet number 826??), parked on the forecourt of the company garage in Creswell Road, Clowne.

The East Midland business had its origins in the Clowne area having been founded by W. T. Underwood Limited in the early 1920s and re-named East Midland Motor Services in 1927. It became a British Electric Traction owned company in 1942 and then part of the National Bus Company in 1969.
The company was sold to the Stagecoach Group in 1989.

The lettering on the building dates from NBC days reduced with the loss of the ‘double N’ arrow and a strapline.

The garage was subsequently closed. The property still exists and two separate commercial companies trade here.
