Cambridge Southern Busway - 18 Oct 2023 (P1160926)

Wednesday 18 October 2023 (1223) – The northbound (city centre bound) track of the southern Busway in Cambridge has been closed for many months following two separate fatalities, one involving a cyclist (in 2018) and one a pedestrian (in 2021).

A view from on board Whippet Coaches WG119 (MX23 LRZ) as it sped southbound shows the overgrown median between the running surfaces used by the bus road wheels. A ‘temporary’ safety fence was erected which sits on one such surface. The cycleway/pathway alongside the Busway is also used by Busway maintenance vehicles
