Ambassador Travel coach at Chalk Hill, Barton Mills – 20 Aug 1989 (96-19)

Ambassador Travel coach at Chalk Hill, Barton Mills – 20 Aug 1989 (96-19)
Sunday 20 August 1989 – Not a very good shot but it shows an Ambassador Travel Eastern Coachworks bodied Leyland Leopard wearing fleet livery. Most of the Ambassador coaches wore contract liveries for National Express or National Holidays at the time and in later years other tour/holiday companies.

This coach would have been new to the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company in 1982 before passing to Ambassador Travel when ECOC was split up in September 1984.

It was seen in the bright evening sunshine speeding eastbound on the A11 at Chalk Hill, Barton Mills. It looks like a piece of a traffic bollard lying on the parched grass. The survival rate of traffic bollards at this junction is somewhat short and thirty odd years later damage still occurs on a regular basis not to mention more serious accidents at the crossover.

Stephan Fey, Nouchetdu38 have particularly liked this photo
