Chambers G760 VRT and Beestons NEV 678M at Bury St. Edmunds – 7 Aug 1993 (201-3)
Saturday 7 August 1993 – Buses bound for Sudbury and Colchester on Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmunds.

H C Chambers and Son Limited of Bures, Suffolk has operated a motor bus service between Bury St. Edmunds and Colchester via Lavenham, Long Melford, Sudbury and Bures since the 1920s although the business began in 1877 with horse drawn vehicles between Bures and Sudbury. The company re-introduced double deckers to their fleet in 1989 after a gap of around 17 years when three new Alexander RL bodied Leyland Olympians were taken into stock. G760 VRT was the second of these new double deckers which entered service in August 1989.

In the background is Beestons Coaches NEV 678M, a Leyland National 11351/1R that had been new to the Eastern National Omnibus Company (1721) in September 1973. Beestons had acquired the business of Theobalds Coaches of Long Melford in 1991 and retained a base there for some time after.

The Beestons bus departed at 1215 and the Chambers bus at 1230.
